Cuddle weather

Hello all!  Miss Emily today.  I'm hoping everyone had a restful few days off!   It is now quite chilly.  Mom had to finally concede to the weather (and her very cold toes)and switch from sandals to socks and shoes.
She had a 3 day weekend.  It made her very thankful!
Mom went for a walk in the park on Saturday morning.
Even though it was overcast she said it was peaceful.   There were lots of birds singing.  Mom said she could even hear water dripping from the leaves.

There are always ducks!
Some houses near the park were already for Halloween!  Our Mom has a tiny pumpkin.  She also rented from the library the Charlie Brown movie about the Great Pumpkin.  (Mom likes the gentler side of Halloween!)
Snores from Winston!   Mom was able to catch up on the sleep she missed.   Emily and I are very helpful and very wise.   We show her by example.  Humans can be dense, if you ask me!
Mom slept, took long walks, cooked, read a little, binge watched Rick Steve travel videos and even took the occasional nap!
Guess what?!  Mom also made homemade hot chocolate with coco and almond milk and stuff.  She tweaked

it a bit.   If it didn't take so long to make she would try it more often!

Mom says thank you to everyone last week who came by to visit and were sending good thoughts.  She appreciates it!  We also tried to help by allowing her to cuddle (Emily) and sleeping on her toes (Winston)  However, we don't want her to think that we will always exert ourselves to such an extent!

Decorate Your Own Soul

Good morning.  I hope everyone had a good week.   Winston and Emily say "hello"  =)
The weather is still warm for the end of October but is cooler at night.  The leaves are still turning.

I try to get to park whenever I can.  The walks there soothe me.   I prefer early morning when the world still feels new.   I love it when the sun starts peeping over the horizon and the soft, gold light bathes the tips of the trees in a glow.
My "foster" Mom loved Charlie Brown.  I still like seeing his comics.   This partcualr one hits close to home!   I'm guessing it holds an appeal for a lot of people.
I may have posted this photo before but Emily's expression makes me smile.   Such a tiny character!
This is a seagull flying near the park.  I liked the way the sunlight lit his wings.
 Mist on the lake.
I bought my first ever macaron.  I took it home and put it on a pretty china plate.   It was expensive, $2.00, so I thought it best to appreciate it before eating it.   This is salted caramel flavour.

Feline Drama and Morning Walks

Hello Felines.  It is Miss Emily.   Mom says I look a bit sad and stunned in this photo.   I say there is a very good reason for that!  I will briefly explain.  We have a cat scratcher/kitty lounger.  It belongs to me!  I laid claim to it and am often found relaxing there.
Until a few days ago....
Winston kitty demanded that I abdicate my rightful place.   That bossy boy!  He swatted at me.  I swatted back.   He must have got in a lucky smack because....
He got my nice warm spot.   That beast!
Anyway, Mom spent a lot of last week in the park.  Well, she spent a couple of hours there early in the morning.
It is finally starting to look like fall.  This was Mom's favorite morning.  The sun was starting to shine through the mist.
An overcast morning.   The Canadian geese flying overhead.
Mom used her cell phone for this one.  She loved the way the raindrops sparkled on the grass.

Winston's Presents and Fun Stuff

(Please click on the photos to enlarge !)
Greetings all!  It's Winston.  First I would like to wish all of the Canadian readers a "Happy Thanksgiving"!   It is tomorrow.
Next...guess what!?  Mom finally got my birthday gifts. (More than a month late!)   Here I am standing next to my favorite treats in the word: Temptations Seafood Flavour.
Apparently, it is also Emily's favorite treat. The nerve of her!
I also got a catnip toy.   Can you see Emily?   I just know she wants to play with my new toy, too!
What do you say felines?  Should I share?
Mom has been off on her staycation.   She really appreciates having slow mornings where she writes in her journal.   This beautiful journal was a gift from Mom's sister.  Mom is also excited to be using her autumn plates.  There are tiny birds on an autumn branch.
(That is a slice of pumpkin bread and a mug of tea--how boring!)
She also felt like she could color a wee bit.   Mom says it is relaxing.  Except when Emily thinks the pencil crayons are toys that need to be smacked off the table and hidden!
Mom also went on a day trip to a lovely place called Winter Wheat in Sparta, Ontario.   There is a very creative artist at work here!  Mom liked this "jazz cat"
A garden lady surrounded by teapots and teacups.
 A lampshade garden angel!
Beautiful, jewel-toned candle hangers swaying on the porch.
Kitties, lots more stuff is going on.   However, we need to be brief, at least for now.  Do you see this lovely figurine?  It's a Willow Tree Angel.  Our Mom has several.  Well, guess what, Mom got all misty when she received this one.  (The image is taken from the Willow Tree Angel site)
It's called Surrounded by Love.  Her niece bought it for our Mom and gave it to her on Saturday when Mom's sister and niece came for a visit.  Mom said it made the hard bits in her heart feel a bit softer.  She wanted to cry, happy tears, but knew her niece would probably make fun of her!!
We will close for now.
This last photo...it's the light shining through the trees at Winter Wheat.

Autumn Staycation

It's Day 3 of my staycation.  So far I've been "productive"!  Lots of chores and errands run.  It always seems to take a while before I can settle in and relax.   Mr. Winston kitty is in the above photo. He looks rather grumpy  :)   He and Emily are fighting over the cat scratcher/cat bed.    It is surprising to me how Emily seems to "win" back her spot!
This past week autumn was halted by record-breaking temperatures.   If the humidex was factored in,  the temperatures reached almost 40C (104 F).  On Friday my area had some severe thunderstorms, including hail and high winds, and the temperatures went back to more seasonal levels.
On Saturday I had a visit with Mom.  She loves Winston and Emily.  Mom confessed to me that sometimes she dances with her cat, Pearl.   She assures me that Pearl loves dancing.  Pearl loves to be cuddled.
"What music do you dance to?"  I queried.
"Darling by Johnny Reid.   I love that song!  I cranked it up and we danced!"  Mom replied.
I have a feeling she isn't the only one.

A small tree in full autumn glow.   I would say about 15-20% of the trees are showing their colors.
Halloween kitty chocolates.   These kitties do not look scary at all.
I've been continuing to search for a birthday gift for Winston.  I saw these monster sized mice at a Pet Value!
This is a small park close to where I live.  I'm looking forward to being able to take walks just for the fun of it!
 Emily says hello!
She is such a cutie.   She loves to run and greet me now in the morning when I wake up.
Another photo from Pet Value!   I liked the sign!  As if I needed reminding to spoil them.
Pumpkins at the grocery store.  One of the things on my hopeful list of staycation ideas is to visit a pumpkin field.  I'm looking for the tiny little pumpkins.  There isn't a lot of room in my apartment for the regular sized ones.
When Mom was down on Saturday we window shopped and went for a walk in the park.   We also had a seasonal snack of pumpkin muffins, tea, and clementines.
There are more visits, errands, and organizing chores to follow in the next while.  I'm also hoping to get some autumn clothes shopping done.  Oh...and Christmas shopping too!
