I went in to the living room yesterday to find this-Winston's furry butt sticking up in the air as he rooted frantically through the sofa pillows =)
Crazy cat.
Earlier that day, I had brought Oscar a few treats as he reclined on the back of the sofa. I'm guessing one or two of them must have fallen behind the pillows.
No worries, though, Winston kitty managed to retrieve the lost, neglected treats.
My hero!

A Christmas Eve story

Once upon a Christmas Ever there was a girl who lived with her family in a small town. Though the family loved each other-life was hard and often there were fights. The girl wished that everyone would get along--but frequently the atmosphere in the home was strained and bitter. On this particular Christmas eve the young girl had tried to make the house cozy and welcoming-but old habits are hard to break, and harsh words broke out of angry hearts. She was bitterly hurt that her efforts were worth nothing, and went to bed early, and cried herself to sleep. A few hours later she woke up to a cold, dark and hollow quiet of a house. This empty dark was not what had woken the girl--rather-she strained to hear what she thought were angel voices.. ...
Brushing away the last bits of a deep sleep, she walked to the window-there was a bright moon in the sky-and it shone on the snow covering the lawn. No angels--but--facing the house-the dark, quiet house--were 3 people with the last few words of a carol coming from their lips. Already they were turning to leave before she realized they were carolers. She went back to bed-quieter in heart.
Years later the girl-now officially a grown up-often wonders about that night. She doesn't doubt she saw the singers-though she can not remember the song they sang. Their song solved no problems. But the event was more than what it seemed
and she finally concluded that even in the darkest of times-when you are heart hurt and tired--there are songs or lights--to help you on the journey.
So-whether you are the bringer of songs or the hearer of songs

Now would be a good time for a nice mug of hot apple cider   =)

Christmas trees are a source of constant temptation to the Winston kitty.
This year, I only put up lights and tiny stuffed animals on the tree. If it gets knocked over, then none of the decorations should (theoretically) break!

Just another quick post as I'm borrowing a computer. Mine is still in the shop.
I've been feeling frantic lately, not the quiet moments of reflection and peace I had been secretyly hoping for !
Last night, though, I was able to relax with the my purry felines and enjoy the carols and Christmas lights .
I think that sometimes, you really do need to make time for these momenets.
Hope to catch up with everyone's blogs when my own computer is up and running again.

Oscar kitty here again. I know i look scary here but really I was just yawning.
Mumm's computer is now in the shop. She feels how I look in this photo! (he he-figure that one out, feeble humans!) Anyway, she is on a long work week and has a broken down computer. I'm a bit concerned this stress will affect her ability to feed me, clean my litter boxes, brush me, hug me, and tell me what a handsome boy I am. *it's so not easy being a kitty!*

Just a quick announcement from Oscar kitty. Mom's computer is not working and she is fretting big time about it.
I'm trying to get her to relax but so far she is just not listening.

Back to work Monday

The staycation was amazing-quiet, restful  =)  There was a beautiful, mysterious frost one morning.  I stayed out taking photos till my fingers went numb with the cold!
I went out with some friends for brunch on Saturday morning.  It was delicious!  I went back for another scone!

Oscar kitty says, "Don't worry, Mum.  I'll keep a place on the sofa warm for you.  Now you go to work so you can afford to buy me more of my expensive kibbles!

Frugal Friday

Here to report on Mom's staycation-specifically, Friday!

 Mum was all in a dither because her Mom came for a visit yesterday and they did a bit of shopping.  They went to the Thrift Store and saw some mighty fine deals.

They stayed over two hours and then finished off with a happy meal at Micky Dees!

Kitty Yoga

Lucy kitty here. Mum is still on her staycation. She is staying super busy, though. I say if she wants to relax she should follow my example by doing some nice, slow yoga stretches. Perhaps a nap. Or some meditation-kitty style.
She did get a pedicure yesterday. Her toes are a fancy color and looks pretty. Mum said the lady buffed her feet so hard it felt like her heel was on fire. I think Mum understands now why us kitty brats are not so fond of claw clippings. It's a very sensitive area.

This cute little tabby cat was in search of her human servant. She braved the cold and the towering snow drifts in her brave pursuit. All that crazy white stuff falling from the sky only complicated matters. Tiny, brave kitty was a bit bewildered by the tiny white cold things but she was on a mission. When she found her busy human, though, a conversation ensued and all was well. =)

Oscar kitty here. As promised, us brat kitties are going to keep up with Mom's blogging type activities while she is on vacation. Though she calls it a staycation. Her first day off (Friday) was spent running errands and doing housework. She need to relax a little, I think. Lucy's grumpy expression disappeared when I showed her the new feather on a pole toy I found this past wekend. =)
She and Winston both love this new toy. Oscar looks slightly mortified by it. I even dangled it seductively in front of his face...he is not totally convinced yet!

Phew! A busy week-a not so fun dentist visit first thing Monday morning and lots of errands and work to keep me out of trouble.
My staycation is fast approaching, though. It's been more than a year since I had a week off! Been busy planning what to do here at home that is fun!
Am heading out to a local theater company later this afternoon to see a musical. First, though, a wee bit of shopping.
My brats wish everyone a productive, relaxing weekend.

Poor Winston! He thinks the Christmas tree is his personal plaything. He is offended when I tell him to "stay away" from the tree.
This post is a call for advice =)
I've had to take down our tree before Christmas last year because a certain feline (who shall remain nameless-right!) was eating the fibre optics off the tree and then puking them up. Then progressed to ornaments complete with the string. Tried to put the tree up high at night (the china cabinet) or in a closed room but there has GOT to be an easier way =) I missed the tree and so did Winston!

No-I'm not putting up decorations already =) I was tidying up my gift drawer and found these lights in the back corner. I decided to plug them in at the kitchen counter to see if any of the bulbs needed to be replaced. The Winston kitty decided he better inspect the lights, too, and not leave such an important task to a feeble minded human.

  You should be happy to know they passed his critical inspection. Come December-up they go on the tree!

Finally, it's Saturday. I can take a breather from work and really concentrate on housework =) Before all that fun cleaning stuff, though, I made sure to take a stroll through a used book store. I may have purchased a book or two as well.
Then, met a friend for some chai latte at a local tea room. Two hours passed before we knew it. Always fun to catch up!
I took this photo a few weeks ago at a local park. Autumn is my favorite season. Have a lovely weekend, peoples!

It's true =) Seeing that furry little face and those big blue eyes as you walk through the front door-well, it feels like coming home =)
Typically, right after this heartfelt reunion, Winston either starts to chew on the phone card, or shred the carpet, until I feed the poor starving boy!

Scarifying Winston

No, Winston is not gearing up for Halloween. ;) But he is a bit taken aback after a visit with the vet. The little dude seemed to have lost his appetite -not eating nearly as much food as he normally scarfs down. So after a trip to the vet which included an exam and some x-rays, she concluded he was -ahem- blushes--constipated. Not sure how that happened. He already eats a fibre food. There is plenty of water for him to drink. Any reasonable suggestions to remedy this situation would be much appreciate by Winston. I'm fairly certain he would rather not have to endure the indignity of another kitty enema.
=) Ewwwww-have a nice weekend anyway.

Autumn is Cozy Time.

I love this time of year.  The cooler temperatures, the glow of autumn leaves and the softer light.

It's the perfect time to indulge in a little comfort food  =)  Hmmm... maybe some fruit filled crepes with whipped cream!
